Mikuni Pass 11
Temperature: minus 19 degrees Celsius at the Mikuni Pass.
At the beginning of the training, he heard the sound of frost crack. The seasonal wind was very strong. This route passes a section where there is nothing to block the wind. This section is situated at the last 3km to the summit. We call this section “death zone”. Being exposed to strong cold winds, your body heat will be deprived rapidly. Only few experienced members of us can handle this cold. You should avoid staying long time in the death zone. The climbing was fast thanks to the back wind but he had to pedal very hard on the descent to speed because of the strong head wind. And from time to time the visibility went down to zero. Super-strong blasts almost blew him off several times.
