Mt.Tokachidake (Mt.Tokachi) 27
Temperature: minus 27 degrees Celsius in the KTV (katabatic valley).
A cold day. The mountains were covered with clouds but a radiative cooling was strong at the foot of the mountain. The diamond dust was falling from the sky. He heard the sound of frost crack 5-6 times. He had a tingling sensation at his pharynx because of the super-cold air he was inhaling. One of tail lamps shut down because of the cold. After the interval training at the summit, he descended. He wasn’t careful enough that the tip of the nose wasn’t completely covered during the descent. This uncovered part turned to be a first-degree frostbite. Moreover, he had ache at his right eye because the contact lenses had frozen and had been damaged because of the cold.
